NCERT Syllabus Changes 2025-26: Class-wise Update Summary

GetSchoolsInfo Editorial1 min readUpdated 3 May 2026

The 2025-26 academic session sees NCERT continuing the staged rollout of the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) 2023 while keeping the 2022 rationalisation in force for senior classes. Below is a class-by-class summary of what's actually different in 2025-26 versus 2024-25, what's stable, and what entrance-exam aspirants need to know.

If you are using a printed textbook from 2024 or earlier, the content for Class 1-5 may not match your child's school exactly — those classes received NCF-SE-aligned books in 2024-25 (Class 1-2) and 2025-26 (selected). Class 6-12 textbook structure is largely unchanged from the rationalised 2022 versions.

Critical for entrance-exam aspirants in 2025-26

NEET 2026: the NTA syllabus continues to test several topics removed from the 2022-rationalised NCERT — Polymers in Chemistry, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production in Biology, Reproductive Health subtopics, and parts of Hydrogen and s-Block in Class 11 Chemistry. Source pre-2022 NCERT or coaching bridge modules for these. See /ncert/deleted-syllabus-neet-2026 for the full reconciliation.

JEE Main + Advanced 2026: JEE syllabus is somewhat closer to current NCERT but still tests Mathematical Reasoning, Mathematical Induction, and selected derivations from 2022-deleted chapters. Communication Systems Physics is dropped from JEE 2024+ alongside the NCERT removal — safe to skip. See /ncert/deleted-syllabus-jee-2026.

CUET-UG 2026: the cleanest alignment — CUET follows the latest rationalised NCERT closely. You can ignore deleted topics for CUET. CUET-UG syllabus is published as part of the NTA CUET information bulletin each February.

Print-edition check: the NCERT PDF you download from ncert.nic.in is always the latest. The inside cover of the textbook carries the print year — if your child's school book shows 'First edition 2021' or earlier, it predates the rationalisation and contains chapters now removed.

Frequent questions

No. CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2025-26 follow the same rationalised NCERT used since 2023-24. Sample papers are issued each January-February at cbseacademic.nic.in.
