Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents, students, and educators need to know about GetSchoolsInfo

What is GetSchoolsInfo?
GetSchoolsInfo is India's largest school data platform covering 64,000+ schools across 800+ districts in all 36 states and union territories. It provides official UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education) government data — including fees, student-teacher ratios, infrastructure quality, and safety metrics — to help parents make informed school choices. No paid rankings, no hidden agendas.
How is the school data verified?
All data comes directly from UDISE+, the Government of India's official school census conducted annually by the Ministry of Education. Schools self-report data which is verified by Block and District Education Officers. GetSchoolsInfo uses the latest 2024-25 UDISE+ dataset.
How can I find the best school near me?
Use the 'Schools Near Me' button on the homepage — it detects your city automatically. You can also search by district, state, pincode, or school name. Filter results by board (CBSE, ICSE, State Board), fee range, infrastructure quality, RTE compliance, and more.
What does the school quality score mean?
Each school gets a score out of 10 based on five dimensions: Infrastructure (classrooms, labs, digital facilities), Academic Quality (teacher qualifications, training %), Safety & Hygiene (boundary walls, fire safety, toilets), Digital Readiness (smart boards, computers, internet), and Inclusion (disability access, gender parity). The score uses only official UDISE+ metrics — zero subjective inputs.
What is student-teacher ratio (STR) and why does it matter?
STR indicates how many students each teacher handles. The RTE Act mandates maximum 30:1 for primary and 35:1 for upper primary. Lower STR means more individual attention. GetSchoolsInfo shows actual STR calculated from UDISE+ data for every school.
Can I compare schools?
Yes — compare up to 3 schools side-by-side on fees, infrastructure, teacher quality, safety, and student demographics. Click the 'Compare' button on any school card to add it to your comparison list.
Which boards are covered?
All major boards: CBSE, ICSE/ISC, all State Boards (UP Board, Maharashtra Board, Tamil Nadu Board, RBSE, BSEB, etc.), IB, IGCSE, NIOS, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Navodaya Vidyalaya, and Madrasa boards.
Is GetSchoolsInfo free?
Completely free. No paid rankings, no sponsored listings, no registration required to search. Every school is scored using the same transparent methodology.
How often is data updated?
GetSchoolsInfo uses UDISE+ 2024-25 data, the latest available. UDISE+ census is annual — we update when new data is released by the Ministry of Education.
How many schools are listed?
Over 64,000 schools across 800+ districts, covering government schools, private schools, aided schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and all board-affiliated schools in all 36 states and union territories of India.
